What is the "Arbroath - A Place for everyone" Project?

In 2019, the Scottish Government awarded Angus Council funding under the Sustrans Places for Everyone programme to design and develop an exemplary walking and cycling route in Arbroath. Accessible to all and connecting destinations throughout the town it will reconnect areas and facilities to create a seafront people want to use.

Arbroath is the first Scottish town in the ‘Places for Everyone’ programme and receives the highest level of funding - which was increased this year.

Consultants, Arcadis, have been appointed to progress the project aims to improve pedestrian and cycling provision, make better use of green spaces and develop links from the railway and bus station to the town centre. The main dual carriageway that runs through Arbroath will be redesigned to better use available road-space while keeping the traffic flowing.
